Owned by the State of Kansas, the Sandsage Bison Range Wildlife Area preserves 3,760 acres of remnant Sandsage Prairie, a unique prairie community found in southwest Kansas.



Education

This amazing piece of property and those that maintain it provide a unique resource for the public to learn about a unique part of Kansas' natural and cultural history.

 

Heritage
Not only is the Sandsage Bison Range noted for its unique plant community, but it is also home to the oldest publicly owned bison herd in Kansas.  Bison have been a part of this unique property since the 1920's.

So far, a mild winter has everything quiet out on the range.  Spring will be here before we know it.  Keep your eyes open for upcoming info on the annual Members Dinner in February and next season's public events.
